Valentyna Spanchak is a Ukrainian visual artist whose work explores memory, material, and emotional presence. Raised in the Lviv region and trained at the Lviv National Academy of Arts in the Department of Art Restoration, she brings together technical precision with deeply personal expression.
She works primarily with acrylics, often combining them with pastels, aluminum powder, clay, and textile elements like hand-crocheted fragments. Her practice is rooted in recurring themes such as internal experiences, personal memories, dreamscapes, and a deep connection to nature and her homeland.
Her visual language is shaped by contrasts — expressive brushwork layered against structured geometry. These elements create harmony while allowing space for emotional intensity. Her paintings are often small in scale but rich in symbolic storytelling. Each one is held within handcrafted frames, designed and sculpted by the artist to physically and emotionally extend the meaning of the work.

My work is built from memories. Not always literal, but emotional. Some come from dreams, others from moments that linger without words. I’m drawn to the symbols that stay with us: a car, a bird, a flower, a body turned away. They don’t need to explain themselves. They’re just there, like feelings we haven’t named yet.
