“Since my beginnings I have followed the thread of artistic research. I am one of those artists who seek answers in both abstraction and figuration. Although I was taught strictly in abstraction, I decided independently to restore the form and the figure, without neglecting my training.
In my paintings, I treat mythological themes and combine abstraction with the real positions of the stars in the sky. In this way, the abstraction becomes the framework of the universe and thus "reality". My mythological themes serve as comprehensive explanations connected to the entire universe, consisting of opposing tensions, distant dimensions, and historical artistic codes.
The figure emerges from material chaos and is ordered by the sign. This allows me to create a compositional pictorial space in which the reality is not that of the object or subject in space, but that of the pictorial space in which lives the subject who determines the order. Recourse to myth allows me to rediscover the originality of languages and feelings. Even in the smallest, everyday presence of our lives, myth remains current and timeless.”
